Jazz Beats
The following example demonstrates the most basic form of the Jazz or Swing beat. Once again the right hand plays the ride cymbal while the left foot plays the hi hat on the backbeat.
Here is the same beat with the bass drum added. When both feet play together, the hi hat symbol appears under the bass drum note in the written music.
