INTRODUCTION

Lesson 2/1 | Study Time: 5 Min
INTRODUCTION

Progressive Keyboard Method has been designed to introduce the beginner to the basics of playing electronic keyboard and reading music.

To maximise your enjoyment and interest, the method book contains an extensive repertoire of well-known songs.

All the songs have been carefully graded into an easy-to-follow, lesson-by-lesson format, which assumes no prior knowledge of music or the electronic keyboard.

Method Book 1 incorporates very easy arrangements involving one octave on the treble staff (played with the right hand), and eleven easy chords (played with the left hand). It introduces you to ^ and * time, including quarter, half, whole and dotted notes and their equivalent rests. The major scale is also introduced, along with sharps and flats.

You will learn how to read music and be introduced to basic terms such as barlines, repeat signs and lead-in notes.

A set of keyboard stickers is provided for easy identification of keyboard letter-names.

A suggestion for a voice and/or rhythm selection is given with each song as a guide to help you get the best possible sound out of your keyboard. The suggested voices and rhythms are used on the cassette.

Supplementary Songbook A has been designed to be used in conjunction with Method Book 1. It contains more than 70 additional songs and exercises, which are cross-referenced to the lessons in Method Book 1.
