The Slide Finger

Lesson 3/44 | Study Time: 5 Min
The Slide Finger

The Slide Finger

Another technique that can be used to make some chord changes easier is called the slide finger. For example, when changing from D7 to G in the following exercise, do not lift your third finger off the string, but slide it up to the third fret. Only touch the string very lightly as you do this. When changing from G to D7, slide your third finger down to the second fret.

In the following example, use pivot fingers between all chord changes and the slide finger when changing from D7 back to G.

The following progression is a turnaround in the key of G major, so play all F notes as F# as indicated by the key signature.
