The Lead-In (or Pickup)

Sometimes a song does not begin on the first beat of a bar. Any notes which come before the first full bar are called lead-in notes (or pickup notes).

When we use lead-in notes, the last bar is also incomplete.

The notes of the lead-in and the notes in the last bar add up to one full bar.

In this song there are two lead-in notes. Use six counts to introduce this song. Add hand tremolo to the long notes.

Use five counts introduce this song. Add hand tremolo as you wish.

Use five counts to introduce this song.

The note C is played by breathing out through the fourth hole.

The note F is played by breathing in through the fifth hole.

The note D is played by breathing in through the fourth hole.

The note G is played by breathing out through the sixth hole.

The note E is played by breathing out through the fifth hole.
