Triplet Rhythms

Triplet Rhythms

This next song uses some beats that are broken into three parts instead of two, for the "mer-ri-ly’s". This can be refered to as "triplet" timing. Practice triplet timing by saying "One and a Two and a Three and a Four" while tapping once for each number.

Fiddle Style or Bluegrass Harmonica

The American genre known as fiddle songs or Bluegrass features tunes that are usually of British-American extraction. They tend to be fast, with lots of notes. The following is one of the best-known fiddle songs.

You can begin to practice this famous jig by playing it with one beat per note, but it will sound best when played with a triplet beat.
