The C Chord

C

To play the C chord, use the first, second and third fingers of your left hand as shown in the diagram. Strum all six strings.

In this exercise play four bars of the C chord.

When changing from C to D7, the first finger remains in position on the first fret of the second string, and acts as a pivot around which the other fingers move. This is an important technique which makes many chord changes easier and smoother.

There are no pivot fingers in the C to G chord change.
