For a rhythm guitarist, rt is important to be able to play one, two, three, four, five or six strings together at any given moment. The example below uses the 1st and 2nd strings together and then the 2nd and 3rd strings together The rhythm consists of a bar of quarter notes followed by a bar of eighth notes. All tfie notes are played with downstrokes of the pick. Listen carefully as you play and make sure all the notes are clear and even.
Now try the following example which uses power chords with eighth notes. Use all downstrokes with the pick as you play this example. If you are not familiar with written music and guitar TAB, don't be scared off by the notation. All you have to do is move your first finger to change between E5, D5 and A5.
