The Eighth Note

The Eighth Note

This is an eighth note. It lasts for half a count. There are eight eighth notes in one bar of * time.

When eighth notes are joined together, the tails are replaced by one beam.

Eighth notes are played with the middle of the bow using short strokes. Count out loud as you play the following example and keep your wrist loose as you play.

Here are two songs which contain eighth notes. Clap and count the rhythms before playing these songs.

Count out loud as you play this song, and use alternating bow strokes all the way through.
