This book is utilising the most popular tuning of the 5 String Bass which is the same as the 4 string standard tuning with the additional low B string. Some bass players prefer the high tuning for special features. To have the whole range of the bass extended there are also 6 string basses available which feature the low B string as well as the high C string in addition to the 4 standard strings.
