In this lesson you will learn several interesting chords and rhythms which are often incorporated into Country guitar.
The minor seventh root 6 and root 5 bar chords are derived from the basic Em7 and Am7 chords.

Am7
A#m7 or Bbm7
A left hand damp is achieved by slightly releasing the pressure in the left hand whilst holding a bar chord and strumming the strings with the right hand, therefore producing a dead or muted sound. This effect can be heard in example 60, where a root 5 D minor bar chord is used. An X is used to indicate exactly when a left hand damp is used.
Rhythm Pattern
Example 61 uses the left hand damp on the fourth beat. Root 6 and root 5 bar chords are used.
Rhythm Pattern
The major 6th root 6 and root 5 bar chords are derived from the basic E6 and A6 chords.
Note: In order to play the root 6 major bar chord it will be necessary to mute the 4th string, by gently touching it with the second finger of the left hand, as indicated by the symbol X.
