3rd Intervals
Another common sound in Country music, particularly in melody playing, is the use of 3rd intervals. The distance between the root and third of a chord is a 3rd, as is the distance between the third and the fifth. These intervals are shown here for the chords C, F and G. This example demonstrates the C major scale harmonized in 3rds. The whole example can be played with the second and fourth fingers of the right hand.

This solo combines the sound of a melody harmonized in 3rds with another typical Country left hand pattern. Practice each hand separately at first if necessary.
