Chord Charts

The following chord charts show three different positions for major, minor and seventh chords.

A: The root position - This shape has the root note (i.e., the note the chord is named after) as the lowest note of the chord.

B: The first and second inversions contain the same notes as the root position but have them in a different order.

Other important chord types are minor seventh (m7), Augmented (+), Diminished (o),Sixth (6), Suspended (Sus), Ninth (9) etc. To learn these chord types, see Progressive Keyboard Chords.
