The Note C

This is a C note. The note C is placed in the third space of the staff. Play this C note with the first finger of your left hand just behind the first fret of the second string.

The Common Time Signature

This symbol is called common time.
It means exactly the same as *.

Things to Remember

  • Place your fingertips just behind the frets, not on top of them.
  • Count aloud as you play the notes.
  • Learn each note and try to think of its name as you play it.
  • Pick the strings over the sound hole.
