Once you can comfortably move between quarter, eighth and sixteenth notes, try the following rhythms. Every beat here (1, 2, 3, 4) starts with an 8th note, and because an 8th note has the same value as two 16th notes, there will be nothing played on any of the e beats. Be sure to leave just as much space there anyway - count the "e"s at first if you’re uncertain. These rhythms are used in many Hip-Hop beats, so it is essential to master them.
Remember to practice these rhythms starting with the left stick as well as the right.
The 8th notes here mean that nothing is played on any of the "a"s.
