Syncopation

Lesson 2/19 | Study Time: 5 Min
Syncopation

Syncopation

Syncopation occurs when notes are played "off" the beat, i.e., when notes are not played on the numbered part of the count but are played on the "+" part of the count.

The tie can also be used to create a syncopated feel by moving the accent (emphasis) off the beat.

The syncopation in the following songs is created by using both of these previous methods.
