Swing Rhythms

A swing rhythm is an eighth note triplet rhythm where the first and second notes of the triplet group are tied together.

To simplify the notation of a song using swing timing it is usual to write 6 = z at the top of the song. This indicates that although the music is written using eighth notes ( 6 ) it is actually played using swing timing, i.e., z. The following songs use this notation.
