INTRODUCTION (for your teacher)

Lesson 2/2 | Study Time: 5 Min
INTRODUCTION (for your teacher)

Progressive Piano Method for Young Beginners Books 1, 2 & 3 have been designed to introduce the younger student to the basics of piano playing and reading music. To maximize the student’s enjoyment and interest, the Progressive Young Beginner series incorporates an extensive repertoire of well-known childrens’ songs. All the songs have been carefully graded into an easy-to-follow, lesson-by-lesson format, which assumes no prior knowledge of music or the piano by the student. This book may be used in conjunction with other Progressive Young Beginner Books, as many of the songs are common across the series.

Supplementary Songbook A contains extra songs to provide a repertoire to go with all the notes, terms and techniques learned in Progressive Piano Method for Young Beginners Book 1. The pieces in the first part of the book are all duets, where the student plays the melody and a teachers part is also provided as an accompaniment. In the last third of the book, the student plays both the treble and bass parts. These pieces naturally follow the point in Method Book 1 where the student learns to play with both hands together.
