A duet is a piece of music played by two musicians at the same time. The following example is a duet for two pianists. The top line (written on the treble staff) is for you to play and the bottom line (written on the bass staff) is for your teacher.
When you get to the end of bar four, remember to look at the top line of the second system of music for your next bar, rather than the bottom line of the first system (the teacher’s part). Learn your part well so you don’t get distracted by the other part. You can also practice your part along with the recording.
In the following songs, you play the part written on the bass staff, while your teacher plays the part written on the treble staff.
In the all pieces from this point on, you will play both the treble part (right hand) and the bass part (left hand).
