The Note E
The note E is written on the first line of the staff.
This example alternates between the notes E and F#. Take care with the timing of the tied notes in the last bar.
Here is a traditional Russian song which features the note E. Notice also the key signature reminding you to play all F notes as F#
The Common Time Signature
This symbol is called common time. It means exactly the same as * time.
The following examples are written in Common time and make use of the note E along with most of the other notes you have learned. Take each one slowly at first and remember to play with a strong, even tone.
This example is slightly more difficult. It makes frequent use of the note E and also features slurs covering groups of notes.
