The Key of C Major
When a song consists of notes from a particular scale, it is said to be written in the key which has the same name as that scale. For example, if a song contains notes from the C major scale, it is said to be in the key of C major. The following song is written in the key of C major.
The following examples will help to build your playing technique and consolidate your knowledge of the notes you have learned. They are all based around the C major scale. Take them slowly at first and be sure to sound each note clearly and evenly.
This traditional Australian song is also derived from the C major scale. There are literally hundreds of songs which can be played using only the notes of the C major scale.
