Slide Solo No. 3

The next solo is in the key of A and uses a combination of the previous two licks. The Root Six and the Root Five licks may be used together to widen our range of notes. The two sections are found three frets apart from each other.

The three chords used in the solo are A, D and E.

Solo Tips

You may find it difficult to control the slide accurately when playing the "A" chord passages on the second fret. It will be necessary to have the guitar neck high enough to get your forearm at right angles to the guitar neck. The closer you can have your left hand to your body, the easier it will be to keep the slide straight.

Right hand damping is once again very important when moving from the Root Six chord lick to the Root Five chord lick.
Bar numbers 9 and 10 use a continuous left hand tremolo. Keep the tremolo even as the right hand repeatedly plays the same chord lick.
