Root 5 - Dominant Seventh

 

You will notice this dominant seventh shape is missing the 5th note of the formula. The omission of certain notes in a chord is permissible.

C7 (Root 5)

To deaden the sixth string use the tip of your third finger or lightly touch it with the thumb of your left hand.

In this example use the fourth finger as a pivot throughout.

In the following two progressions use root 6 shapes for all chords except the dominant 7th, where you should use the root 5 shape given.
