Playing Scale Tone Extensions

Playing Scale Tone Extensions

Playing Scale Tone Extensions

Scale tone chords are the most common chords that you will find in a particular key. The following chord progressions contain only scale tone extension chords starting and ending on the root note of the scale.

The chords have been "voiced" so that each note of a chord moves to the notes of the next chord in the shortest distance. This is not the only way to voice chords but it is important to be aware that connecting chords should not just be a random pattern.

Chords need not be played in order of their particular formula so experiment with your own chord progressions using chords within a particular key (i.e., scale tone chords).
