Tuning Your Guitar to the Recording

Lesson 24/34 | Study Time: 5 Min
Tuning Your Guitar to the Recording

Tuning Your Guitar to the Recording

The first tracks on the accompanying recording contain recordings of the open strings of a guitar. On each track a string is played several times, giving you sufficient time to tune the corresponding string on your guitar to the sound of the note on the recording.

The recording contains open string tuning notes for the three main types of guitar, the nylon string, steel string and electric. Beginners may find it easier to tune the strings of their guitar to the corresponding type of guitar on the recording. Each type of guitar has it own particular tonal characteristics and first time tuners will be able to hear the sound of a string that best matches their instrument. Also included on the recording are twelve tracks that correspond to the open twelve strings of a twelve string guitar. As with all tuning methods make sure you practice tuning to the recording in a quiet environment and double check that you are adjusting the correct tuning key before turning.

Tracks 1 - 6: Nylon String Guitar

Tracks 7 - 12: Steel String Guitar

Tracks 13 - 18: Electric Guitar

Tracks 19 - 30: 12 String Acoustic Guitar
