The following major key progressions contain major and minor chords. Some also contain major seventh (Maj7) and minor seventh (min7) chords. To improvise against these major key progressions, use Pattern 1 in the position commencing 3 frets lower (on the 6th string) than the keynote.
In this position, it is the Major pentatonic scale. The keys of the following chord progressions are the same name as the first chord in each progression. Example 123 uses a progression commonly used in ballads. Once again record yourself playing the other progressions and practice playing lead over them.
The following major key progressions contain only major chords that are the same chords used in a 12 Bar Blues. For these type of progressions you can commence pattern 1 on the same fret as the keynote (minor pentatonic), or 3 frets below the keynote (major pentatonic).
