Count, Pick and Fingering Symbols

In the music contained in this book, you will notice symbols representing a metronome (A), a pick (B ) and a hand symbol ( D ). The metronome symbol tells you what to count for the particular example. The pick shows you the pick motion and the hand represents left hand fingering.

Place your fingers on their tips, immediately behind the frets and press hard to avoid buzzing or deadened notes.

The following examples use quarter notes (or crotchets) 3 , worth one count each ( see Note Values ). Use a downward pick motion a. This will apply to all examples and songs until otherwise instructed.
