INTRODUCTION (for your teacher)

Lesson 2/26 | Study Time: 5 Min
Course: Organ for Kids
INTRODUCTION (for your teacher)

Progressive Organ Method for Young Beginners, in three books, has been designed to introduce the younger student to the basics of organ playing and reading music.

To maximise the students’ environment and interest, the Progressive Young Beginner series incorporates an extensive repertoire of well-known childrens’ songs. All the songs have been carefully graded into an easy-to-follow, lesson-by-lesson format, which assumes no prior knowledge of music or the organ by the student.

Book 1 incorporates very easy arrangements involving five notes on the upper manual (on the treble staff) and three chords on the lower manual (on the bass staff). It introduces the students to * and ^ time, incorporating quarter, half and whole notes and their equivalent rests. Only the white keys are used.

The student is taught how to read music, and introduced to basic terms such as barlines, repeat signs and lead-in notes.

New pieces of information are highlighted by color boxes, and color illustrations are used throughout to stimulate and maintain the students’ interest. A set of keyboard stickers is provided for easy identification of keyboard letter-names.
