Double-Note Licks

Double-Note Licks

A popular lead guitar technique is the double-note lick which is the playing of two notes simultaneously. Both notes are usually within the same lead guitar pattern. The diagrams below highlight some popular positions within pattern one where two notes from within the pattern can be played together to form a double-note lick.

Try the following example which uses doubkle-note licks within lead guitar pattern one (Key of G).

A common practice with double-note licks is to still play two notes together but only the note on the third string is bent. The example given is played within lead guitar pattern one (key of G).

The diagrams to the right show three more popular double-note licks involving a bend. Each lick is used in Example 62 which is played within lead guitar pattern one (key of G).
