Chord Symbols

If you look at exercise 1, you will notice two lines of letters and symbols above the staff (Bb Eb F7 Bb 7 etc.) These are chord symbols which indicate the harmony to be played by accompanying instruments such as keyboard or guitar. The top chord is for instruments accompanying the tenor or soprano sax, while the bottom chord is for instruments accompanying the alto or baritone sax.
