When playing this F note, be sure to cover only half the hole with the second finger of your right hand.
Practice alternating between the notes G and F, and also E and F. Once you can do this comfortably, play the following melody (slowly at first) and be careful to play all F notes as F natural and not F sharp.
This is a flat sign.
When a flat sign appears before a note, it lowers the pitch of the note by one semitone or one half step. (For more information about tones and semitones, see Progressive Theory ).
