This book is an invaluable reference book for the beginning Ukulele player. It contains all the important basic chord shapes which are played in the open position (first four frets). Each chord is clearly shown as an easy to read diagram, detailing exactly which strings must be depressed at which fret and which fingers must be used.
The first section of this book contains useful information to help you use this book as well as covering basic techniques on playing the Ukulele.
The second section of this book contains all the chord diagrams you are likely to encounter. Set out alphabetically, with chord types listed mainly in order of popularity and chord shape is easy to find, providing the following steps are taken.
1. Before looking for the chord you require make sure you know its full name, or alternative name (the Chord Symbols and Alternatives chart in the first section will be helpful in finding the more difficult chord types).
2. Enharmonic Notes; some notes and chords share the same pitch but are written differently, A# is the same as Bb, C# is the same as Db, D# is the same as Eb, F# is the same as Bb, and G# is the same as Ab. Sometimes you will need to look up the equivalent chord type.
At the back of the book you will find lots of reference material for understanding more about music theory, scales, keys, transposing, chord construction etc.
