The Shuffle Rhythm (closed position)
To use the shuffle rhythm with chords other than the chords used in the previous examples, the following chord shapes are used. These shapes may be played in either the root six or root five position, i.e. the root note or the name of the chord is found on either the 6th or 5th string.
The examples shown next are the G and G6 (root note on the 6th string), and the C and C6 (root note found on the 5th string). To play other chords, for example F or F6, position the root six formations of the major and sixth chords at the first fret as the root note (F) is on the first fret of the 6th string. To play a B or B6, position the root five formations of the major and sixth chords at the second fret as the root note (B) is on the second fret of the 5th string.

Rhythm Pattern
It is also possible to play the 2 string form of the seventh chord in different parts of the fretboard. These shapes will prove to be very difficult to play. Note the use of the 1st, 2nd and 4th fingers of the left hand.
