Another popular key to use in the open position is the key of A. Study the following diagrams.

A Minor Pentatonic

A Blues Scale (open position)

Practice the following examples which ascend and descend the A minor pentatonic scale and A Blues scale until you are familiar with them.

The following examples are played within the key of A.

The next example uses the previous lick throughout a 12 Bar Blues progression in A.

Now apply the previous combination of shuffle and lead to a 12 Bar Blues progression. A variety of licks are used in this example.
