Since the third position Blues Scale differs only slightly from an easier to play scale known as the Dorian Scale, practicing the following songs will help to prepare you to eventually work with the third position Blues Scale. The useful but often overlooked third position Blues Scale requires bending, and will be presented in Lesson Twenty One.
The Dorian Scale, which when used with slight alterations in the blues tradition forms the basis for Third Position playing, is most easily played between the 4 and 8 holes without need of bending.
You’ll be able to play the following songs more easily if you practice playing the Dorian Scale from high end to low end also.
