As you have seen from the left hand shuffle pattern, it is not always necessary to play all the notes of a chord together. Another great sound in Blues is the use of broken chords in the right hand. (For more on broken chords, see Progressive Keyboard Technique ). In the following example, the chords used are C root position and F second inversion.
The next example shows this technique applied to the last four bars of the Blues progression.
