Ledger Lines – A short line placed beneath the staff is called a ledger line.
As on the 4th string, notes on the 5th string are usually played with the right thumb (p). To help you learn the notes, say their names out loud as you play this example. This is a good way to reinforce your knowledge of any new notes.
Now try this example which uses notes on both the 4th and 5th strings. Once again, all the notes are played with p. Count out loud as you play and keep your notes steady and even in volume.
