By using a constant stream of swinging eighth notes, an effect known as the shuffle is produced. The following example contains the now familiar cross harp Blues riff played as a shuffle.
Here is the above riff extended to a full 12 bar Blues progression.
Here is the same riff played in first position in the key of C. You have already learnt this exercise using straight eighth notes (ex23.1 – page 36). Notice the difference in feeling between this version and the earlier one.
This famous song can also be played with a shuffle feel. Try it with other songs as well.
