The first note you learn to play is Middle C. Middle C is the C note closest to the middle of your keyboard. This is usually the third C note from the left hand side.
On some smaller keyboards, Middle C is the second C note from the left. If you are not sure, listen to the Middle C note in Exercise 1 on the recording (see Page 2). If you wish to label your keyboard for easy identification of notes, place the "Middle C" sticker on the Middle C note, as shown in the diagram above. Then place a "C" sticker on the other C notes.
