A chord is a group of notes that are played together. Chords are used to accompany the melody of a song. On electronic keyboards, it is possible to play a chord using only one finger. Find the auto bass chord section (eg Yamaha keyboards), or Casio-chord section (eg Casio keyboards), or chord section, and select the single-finger position, or on position. This will allow you to play a chord with one finger. The first two chords you will learn are the C major and G major chords. Because major chords are the most common type of chords, the word "major" is often left out of the chord name, and we simply refer to them as the C and G chords.
C
To play the C chord, touch the C key (as shown on the diagram) with the thumb of your left hand. If you wish, place a sticker on this C key.
G
To play the G chord, touch the lowest G key (as shown on the diagram) with the fourth finger of your left hand.
Any major chord can be played in this manner by simply pressing the key which has the same letter name as the chord.
