These additional songs may be played after the material in Lessons 19 through 20 of the Progressive Harmonica Method have been covered. Many of these songs are no harder than the ones in Part Three, although some of the later songs in Part Four utilize "swing timing", as described in the beginning of this book.
This version of a traditional Afro-American work song is in the so-called "first position", as explained in Progressive Blues Harmonica. The first two lines are repeated, as indicated by the repeat sign, before going on to the last two lines.
This additional version of the song is in the so-called "second position", also explained in Progressive Blues Harmonica. The melody remains the same, although different notes are used to produce that melody. Hand vibrato and some limited "bent note" effects are used, which are also explained in greater detail in Progressive Blues Harmonica.
As in "Pick A Bale Of Cotton", this song is presented in two different "positions". The following is in first position, and the first two lines are repeated, as indicated by the repeat sign, before going on to the last two lines.
In this second position version of the song, an alternate last line, utilizing the technique of bending on the next to the last note, is presented in the second repeated verse of the song. The small number 2 next to the i indicates that the note is bent down two half steps, as explained in Progressive Blues Harmonica and in the Progressive Blues Harmonica Lick and Solo Book.
