LESSON ONE

Triplets Between The Snare Drum and The Small Tom With Accents On The Right Hand

Start all these patterns with the right hand. Make all the accents clear and loud. Remember to count these triplets ; Listen to this example on the "ALL AROUND THE DRUMS" C.D.

Play each of the following bars eight times with the "ALL AROUND THE DRUMS" C.D.

Play the bass drum four beats to the bar. Play the Hi-Hat with your foot on 2 and 4.

Each pattern should be repeated eight times before proceding to the next one.

This sixteen bar drum solo utilizes all the patterns from lesson No. l. It is more important to place the emphasis on accuracy rather than speed. Try to create a relaxed flowing feel, and allow the accents to highlight and colour the solo.Remember to count these triplets as you are playing. Listen to this example on the "ALL AROUND THE DRUMS" C.D.
