F

To play the F chord, use the first, second and third fingers of your left hand as shown in the diagram. Strum only five strings.

The first finger of your left hand plays both notes on the first fret by "barring" across the two strings. This is a difficult chord to play, and will take much practice. You may find it easier to play this chord by placing your third and second fingers in position first, then placing your first finger across the first and second strings.

In the following four exercises, make up your own rhythms and look for pivot and slide finger shortcuts.
