The Key of C Major

When a song mainly consists of notes from a particular scale, it is said to be written in the key which has the same name as that scale. For example, if a song contains mostly notes from the C major scale, it is said to be in the key of C major.

All the songs in this lesson are written in the key of C major, (key of C for short).

This song Guitar Boogie uses only notes from the C major scale, and is within the range of one octave.
