The Pull-off

The Pull-off

The pull-off is like a reverse hammer-on, i.e., the first note is picked and the second note is sounded by the finger pulling off the string. In the following example the A note is played by the right thumb and the G note sound is created by the second finger pulling off the string. The pull-off is indicated by the letter P and a curved line. Hammer-ons and pull-offs are examples of slurs. Slurs are used to give notes a smoother more connected sound.
