Root 6 Seventh Bar Chord

Lesson 2/42 | Study Time: 5 Min
Root 6 Seventh Bar Chord

Root 6 Seventh Bar Chord

E7

The Root 6 Seventh chord shape is based upon the open E seventh (E7) chord shape.

The note in brackets ( ) is an optional note. This optional note is very commonly used. Here are three of the root 6 Seventh chord shapes used in this lesson.

G7

Bb7

A7

In the following chord progression use the optional note when playing the B flat seventh (Bb7), the A seventh (A7) and the A flat seventh (Ab7). The Ab7 chord is played with the first finger barring the 4th fret.

Rhythm Pattern

Some guitarists prefer to "deaden" the fourth string by lightly touching it with the second finger of the left hand. Even if the fourth string is "deadened" the chord shape is still a seventh chord.
