Rock Rhythms
Some interesting rock rhythms can be created by combining dampening and staccato rhythm techniques. Apply the following rhythm patterns to a root 6 G major bar chord. For the down strums play only the sixth and fifth strings (i.e., the power chord part of the bar chords shape) and for the up strums play only the first and second strings of the bar chord shape. So hold the full bar chord shape even though you do not strum all the strings. Play these rhythm patterns twice. To achieve the staccato effect "deaden" the strings by resting the edge of your right hand on all the strings.
