Quarter Note Rests(h)
The examples below introduce quarter note rests. In order to have no sound when there is a rest, the left hand (fretting hand) must mute the string to stop it from ringing.
Example 12 uses repeated notes with a rest on the final beat of each bar.
Example 13 uses the same rhythm as the previous example.
The quarter note rest in example 14 occurs on the second beat.
The quarter note rest in example 15 occurs on the third beat.
