The following diagrams illustrate six different arpeggio patterns which use most of the chord extension notes outlined in the previous section. Each arpeggio pattern is transposable. They start on the 4th string, anywhere on the neck of the Bass guitar.
The arpeggio patterns on the left hand side use all of the notes and intervals without changing the octave of any of the notes.
The arpeggio patterns on the right hand side use exactly the same notes, but certain notes are raised or lowered by an octave so that the entire arpeggio occurs within the range of one octave.
There are many ways to combine the different notes of these arpeggio patterns. Once you are familiar with all the examples outlined in the Chord Extensions Arpeggio Patterns Section, experiment and find your own.
As explained previously, these chords are more complex and it is not necessary to play all the notes as a Bass player. Often it sounds better to omit certain notes and leave some space for other instruments, which will create more transparency.
