Course: Lead Guitar Method

The lead guitarist is generally considered to be the most important instrumentalist in a rock/pop group. A group’s "sound" and direction will be influenced by his or her ability and style.

Progressive Lead Guitar will provide you with an essential guide into the scales and techniques used by lead guitarists. Within the three main sections of this book, a lesson by lesson structure has been used to give a clear and carefully graded method of study. Progressive Lead Guitar is designed to teach beginning lead guitarists, but not beginning guitarists. Before the starting this book your knowledge should include:

Open and bar chords, particularly root 6 (E formation) and root 5 (A formation) bar chord shapes*.
Basic music theory.

Development in these areas should continue in conjunction with the study of lead guitar. Combine the study of this book with constant playing and listening. All rock/pop lead guitarists use the same basic scales and techniques, but the development of style is determined by how these basics are used.
