Open Chord Shapes

The chord shapes given in this lesson and throughout the remainder of the book are called open chords because they contain open strings (i.e., strings without fingers on the fretboard). Another type of chord to learn is a Bar Chord. Bar chords are commonly used in Rock and Pop music. To learn about bar chords see Progressive Guitar Method: Bar Chords.
